mike takasaki is an award-winning freelance copywriter and creative director based in toronto (although that seems to be less relevant lately).

I got my start in advertising as an admin temp at Leo Burnett. Since then, I’ve worked at small, medium, and enormous agencies on small, medium, and enormous clients - everything from making posters from a pop-up deli to overseeing all creative on Walmart. It’s work that has drawn recognition from both local and international awards shows and publications.

I am, at heart, a problem solver. I am relentlessly curious and I love figuring things out. Before I got into advertising, I built databases and taught English as a Foreign Language and I saw them through much the same lens as I do advertising: as problems in need of solutions. How do we identify what needs to be done and how do we find the most compelling way to accomplish it.
